In Search for My Son: "Changeling"

Set in late 20s Los Angeles, Changeling chronicles the true story about a mother's search for her lost son.

Synopsis: A single mom, Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie), comes home from work to find that her son, Walter Collins (Gattlin Griffith), is missing. After several months elapse since her missing child report, the police seems to have found her son. However, upon reunion she is shocked to find out that the found boy in question is in fact not her son. Later, a politically sensible Reverend Gustav Briegleb (John Malkovich) joins forces with Collins to crack the police in admitting their incompetence. What used to be a simple case of a missing child later develops into a game of manipulation hosted by the corrupted LAPD, featuring Captain J.J. Jones (Jeffrey Donovan) and police Chief James E. Davis (Colm Feore). As matters worsen, the case turns out to be intertwined with a horrifying mass murder sweeping SoCal.

If you thought Angelina Jolie was only good at portraying sexy femmebots on the silver screen, think again. Changeling is a remarkable film, from its art direction to its actors, especially the refreshing look at Jolie's more down to earth side. Watching the story unfold was a roller coaster ride of emotions--from sadness to frustration to fear. Halfway through the movie, I stopped eating my popcorn as I was absorbed into the tragic story. I wasn't sure what to expect from a Clint Eastwood film, but I would definitely add this title to the list of his fine directing work with the likes of Million Dollar Baby and Letters from Iwo Jima. If you're looking for a seriously excellent drama film to watch, catch Changeling.

Verdict: See it!

Quantum of Solace

Tomorrow at midnight is . . . Quantum of Solace with Daniel Craig. If you like James Bond or if you are simply looking for an awesome action flick then head on down to Century 20 Great Mall for this event.

The B.F.A.M is considered one of today's most important film centers. It offers 600+ programs yearly and contains many rare prints of film classics. Aside from exhibiting films, they wish to ensure a better "understanding, appreciation, and preservation of cinema through its study center, collections, and publications."

To Donnie Darko Attendees

Thank you kindly for showing up Thursday afterschool to the showing of Donnie Darko.

We were quite shocked at the number of people that showed up and hope our other events will be just populous. The room was left just as it had been, which was great because that meant we didn't have to do any menial labor (yay >.<) .

Do not forget that we have another meeting this Tuesday in room G-09. We want to start planning for our next movie showing! So bring yourself and bring your friends and . . . perhaps a bag of popcorn.

It's almost time!

Tuesday is coming up soon, so CineScene is hoping you've rotted your mind with hours of gorey cinema.

Donnie Darko is going to be shown after school on Thursday in room G-09 (Mr. Bautista). The theater is currently closed for the practice and rehearsal of the school play. It will not be open for our use until December; our apologies go out to you. However! Sweets will be available as well as water for a price. At the following meeting you will receive a permission slip which needs to be brought in on the day of the movie. If you forget, you can always ask for one. If you want to bring friends, then darling be my guest.
